Psa 114:1-8 (NLT)
1 When the Israelites escaped from Egypt—when the family of Jacob left that foreign land—
2 the land of Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel became his kingdom.
3 The Red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan River turned away.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs!
5 What’s wrong, Red Sea, that made you hurry out of their way? What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?
6 Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.
8 He turned the rock into a pool of water; yes, a spring of water flowed from solid rock.

When God’s mission advances, the most substantial of obstacles, the ocean, river, hills, and mountains, simply get out of the way. The rock and foundations of the earth have nothing other to do than tremble and make way for the flowing life of His purpose. I love the mocking nature of the questions pitched to the Red Sea, Jordan River, mountains, hills, and earth. Rather than considered with awe as barriers before God’s movements, they’re asked why they have to hurry out of the way, skip, and tremble before God’s people.
There is a necessity in the mouths and hearts of those moving at the direction of the Almighty. Instead of looking with awe and discouragement on any and all obstacles that stand in the way, a downward gaze needs to be upon those otherwise oppositions with disregard and dishonor. When it is fully understood the magnitude of God’s involvement in our movements, oceans, rivers, mountains, hills, earth, and all otherwise prohibitive elements will only be asked how they will be parting before the force of His glory.
