Psalm 1

Psalms 1:1-6

1 How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers!

2 Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

4 The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not survive the judgment, and sinners will not be in the community of the righteous.

6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.

I love what Charles Spurgeon said concerning the blessing of the way of righteousness:
It is not ‘Blessed is the king, blessed is the scholar, blessed is the rich,’ but, ‘Blessed is the man.’ This blessedness is as attainable by the poor, the forgotten and the obscure, as by those whose names figure in history, and are trumpeted by fame.
What a promise we have that we need not to attain anything outside of the Lord to receive what the Lord had in store from the beginning!

The environment that is intentionally chosen determines the environment that is allowed or given access to. It also determines stability and longevity. When the soul is crying out for fellowship and acceptance, how critical it is where this is found. To seek out those places where the thoughts of the wicked are considered is to be refused from accessing the way of righteousness, with its blessing and provision.
Throughout this day. there will be opportunities to be drawn into the realm of the world, where analysis and opinions are coming from those who don’t even know the Lord. Just giving them time and consideration at all can greatly impact the ability to walk in the way of righteousness that only comes from listening and adhering to the thoughts of the Father. Choosing that seat we’ve been given at His side will result in stability and great gratification that is the fruit of a life lived according to His Word.
